My Daughter Peed Her Pants Today

My daughter peed her pants today.
We were almost to the car when Ava was screaming “bathroom” at me. I knew that at that point we were too late. It was seconds later that I had pee dripping down my side. I set her on the sidewalk and it kept coming. I look up for a split second and see a man with his window down in the line of cars at the red light laughing.... laughing at a 2 year old that had an accident. At this point I had lost all hope in humanity. That if a human can’t sympathize with a two year old who had an accident then we have a serious problem.
I looked back down at my daughters face, disappointed in herself pointing at the side walk. I gave her a hug. I told her it’s okay that you made a mistake we will fix this. Moms fix everything right?
I realized I had no change of pants in my bag because she had one accident before this. I was mad at myself for not packing more and not being prepared. When coming from behind me was this true angel. She said “here, they will be a little big but it will be enough to get you home”. She held out pants. My mind was everywhere and all I could say was “thank you so much, are you sure?” And she went back to the bus stop.
I will forever remember this moment. The moment a complete stranger saved me in this journey through motherhood. That someone who was watching chose to help instead of stare (or laugh). She thought she was just giving me pants but instead she restored my entire faith in humanity.
So to that mom, I say thank you. From the most deepest place in my heart.
P.s. yes, moms do fix everything.
